i ordered 3 of the 5LED matrix bulbs. so there were 3 parts i ordered but a total of 15 LEDs now in the guage cluster.
tangent thoughts: i'm now thinking about climate control. it's a more difficult issue. requires (3 i think) special toyota bulbs. i'm thinking it'd be nice to fabricate an LED replacement. so i could get the backlighting blue without really modifying the climate control unit. but even so i'd want to change out the LEDs that are behind each button and that will definitely require soldering. maybe a better project would be to modify the climate control unit to just accept 194 bulbs (or LED clusters as the case may be). i've seen a guide for permanently wiring in some 194 LED clusters, but it may be possible to just fabricate a socket for 194, and then use the LED clusters as a replacement instead of an incandescent bulb. |
