I had a really old Pioneer Premier DEH-P520 I believe. It was good until it died(after being in four cars over several years.)
I also had a more recent model, which was aDEH-P740MP I think. I didn't like how it took forever to load up MP3 CDs, and how it was slow to move forward to the next track. In general, the MP3 playback was slow, plus I couldn't select a next track to play while another was playing. That said, it was a good deck for the week I had it before I sold it. My next head unit will be an Alpine though. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

QUOTE(Coomer @ Mar 7, 2005 - 2:55 PM) I had a really old Pioneer Premier DEH-P520 I believe. It was good until it died(after being in four cars over several years.) I also had a more recent model, which was aDEH-P740MP I think. I didn't like how it took forever to load up MP3 CDs, and how it was slow to move forward to the next track. The load time of MP3 CDs is only when your inserting it into the player. If the MP3 CD is in the unit when it's turned on it loads quickly just like a standard audio CD. I haven't noticed the slow MP3 playback, but then again I edit out all silence from the beginning and ending of all my MP3s so maybe that's why I don't notice it. The option to select a different track while another is playing isn't to big of a deal but I guess it'd be a nice feature. So far I've had 3 different pioneer decks (all still working somewhere in someones car) and I've installed at least 4 others in friend's and family's cars. Everyone seems very pleased with them. The only problem I've had was just recently the volume knob popped off and shot into the back of my car. Luckily, Digikey has a replace ment available from there website. I think it's a fluke that it happened but just thought I'd mention it. It's only going to cost me $10 to fix and maybe an hour of my time to solder in the new "square encoder". -------------------- Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |
