Ok, so I just bought my 1994 GT hatch yesterday and have been fixing and cleaning all the little things. So the CD player ...I don't know who installed it, probably the original owner's brother, but they did a **** job. None of the wires were soldered or connecetd in any way beyond tape, it was all a mess, nothing was actually grounded so I'm a little confused on how some of the wiring worked, and it whines. Ya know, as the engine revs there's like a whistling sound coming from the speakers. So I got a noise filter from Radio Shack, installed it, installed a ground in the console to the frame, and now the whining/whistling is only while my headlights are on. I have no idea where to turn next, it's annoying as hell and I really don't want to pay a shop to fix this stuff. Any ideas?

Is the CD player installed using the OEM Toyota plugs and an adapter harness for the CD player?

I'm not sure what harness they're using but it's all plugged in, it looks like the harness is wired to the plugs right. I guess the next step is to just rip it all apart and buy a new harness and plugs and try that with my filter:confused:

*EDIT* could it also be that somehow the power to the CD player is tapped from the headlights, or something in the fuse box wrong? I'm not that much of an electronics expert lol
