decent tires?, for a decent price? Options

ok, so i found some 18" rims a great price, but now i cant find tires for them without being in the highperformance super high prices and wont work in snow tires..... i dont need high performance tires, just something that will handle normal driving. i like the good year tripple tread, but they only go up to 16's, and are all like 205/60/16R.....the wheel is 18x7.5....not sure how wide of a tire i need then....is that 225? or around there? and im looking for something like 225/45/18R....but i dont have alot of money, and dont want to pay $150+ a tire...

To answer your questions,

The difference between 225 and 215 is 10 centimeters in width across the tire (from outside to inside). The biggest difference in overall diameter comes from the profile. The 45 refers to the percent of the width. So a 225/45 has a total profile of approximately 101.25 cm while 225/40 has a total profile of 90 cm. Looks are subjective but in general, the lower the profile, the better the looks. The tradeoff is ride harshness and possibility of damaging your rims. You usually dont have to worry too much about damage until you get below 40 (unless you hit a huge pothole or go off a curb). You can get the speedo corrected by replacing the guage faces (www.speedhut.com will make custom guages - approx $150) or you can have it recalibrated by a technition. I dont know much about recalibration because I have never researched it.
