about a week ago I put about 5oz of acetone into my Jetta's gas tank. this thread The tank was about 80-85% full at the time. I drove normaly like I always do. Here are the results...
99.5 Jetta GLS 5spd 70K miles I usually get about 24-27mpg with acetone added - I got 30.43mpg I usually get about 310-330 miles to a full tank of gas with acetone added - I got 372 miles <-- record high in the Jetta It definatly increased my mileage. As for performance, it does feel better (quicker, smoother) but it is hard for me to tell because I switch from the Jetta to the Celica, and the Jetta is faster than the Celica anyway. But, in my opinion, the Jetta was more responsive than usuall. the next step is using it in the Celica. I am filling up tonight and I am going to put in about 6oz (4-5oz per 10 gallons). I usually fill up every 10 days (430-440 miles) in the Celica. I am wicked excited to see the results with the Celica. bottom line, this stuff works. If you are sceptical, google "acetone car" or something and read what others say and their results. Research it first. I did. I got a 32oz cont of acetone at my local Ace Hardware store for $5.99. BTW, this stuff is used for stripping paint, do not spill it on your car. Use a long funnel to pour in. -------------------- |

QUOTE(thedevilmaycrie @ Apr 12, 2005 - 7:46 AM) id be worried about the long term effects... valve seals, fuel lines, injector o-rings... -DMC I second that - believe me the savings in fuel are not worth it. You'll probably end up with heavy repair bill at the end... |
