> I am Confused, Why get V8's??

Like the title says, why get a mustang or camaro, firebird, etc. Unless it is like a 69 Camaro SS or something. I know a guy who works at a Chevy and Pontiac dealer. We argue like everyday about the corvette and new Pontiac GTO. They both have the 5.7 Liter V8 engine. It's like 350 Hp or something. What I don't get is why do people think that they have to have bigass mean sounding engines to get big power. I know that some of them can withhold boost by a super charger and nitrous. But I have only seen one stang that had a turbo. It was in a magazine. I guess what I don't get is why do they have bigass gas guzzling engines that produce mediocre horsepower when you can get a 2.0 Liter engine to produce more than twice of the amount that some V8's have?

Can someone explain this to me? I know that k2 works at some mustang performance place. Or maybe someone else. Maybe one of you guys can explain it to me.

Thanks

Edit: Everyone is concerned about emissions and gas usage then why do they continue to produce those cars. Honestly I know that some 4 bangers lose to V8's and V10's. But I have seen personally a Dodge Neon completly spank the shiat out of a Viper.

V8's sure,
Sweet, strong solid engines with massive power.
Just keep the US made SH$T away from me.
Most US V8's make about 50 Hp/litre of displacement very unefficient, they also fall apart.
If ur gonna get a big V8 or 10 or 12 get it from europe, 4 bangger/ 6? get it from Japan.
Japan - compact economy cars Very efficient sleepers decent engines make 100 and up HP/Litre (7g GTS, S2000, 2JZ, GSR, etc.)
Europe - Finely tuned, elegant machines making at least 100 HP/L on average (all Porches, ferraris, Mid-High end BMW, etc.)
American - Utter **** that falls apart in no time flat, cars made with junk parts and driven by morons. Oh yeah theyre f$%king slow and make about 50 Hp/L.
Note to V8 drivers: Dont get in my face and brag about the 300/400 Hp u got cuz
1. with the money I save buying an i 4, I'll top that.
2. Ur car's made from old toasters, and if u try and race me in curves it'll fall apart
3. I know cars enough not to buy Domestics (Ford's, etc.) so while you rant about big muscle cars, I'm laughing at your redneck accent.
4. Any one can squash a gas pedal, but it takes a refined taste to appreciate the engineering of a smaller engine
5. My car weighs a ton (literally) less than yours.
6. Jap/Euro cars look 10^99 times better than US V8's.

Not all US cars suck and fall apart. True toyotas are for ever, but if you take car of your car it will last you till the day you die. this guy that lived on my block had the same NOVA for over 30 years. and he took great car of it. and i'll say it again big engines don't die.
