OK the situation is I have rust on the bottom of my doors. More on the driver's side than the pass side. On the driver's side it has eaten away some of the bottom of the door The pass side isn't that bad, just surface. I am not one who has body work but I know some basics. Is this fixable by me or should I get a new door or have a shop fix it ?? ??

i took a file to the rust and some low grit sand paper got all the rust off and sanded down to the bare metal. by my drivers door it actually made a hole all the way through... then it was bondo time.

There are chemicals out there, one being OSFO that will treat rusted metal. You should definetly sand all the rusted areas down to bare metal. It all has to be out or it will come back. Put OSFO on it and it'll eat the rust away. Prime, Seal, and paint.
