You think because you are getting a piece of paper that says you know the law that you can tell me what cops can and can't do, buddy I have experience in court, got the practice defending myself and learned from the county magistrate I know a little about law too. Cops are required to turn their sirens when running stoplights, otherwise when they cause an accident they can have a good defense. Also in North Carolina the officer cannot write you with a ticket if they cannot show you the speed they clocked you doing. I drive based on my skill level, i'm not some soccer mom swerving in and out of lanes, I made one stupid mistake and it cost me my car. I have never injured anyone in a wreck, my driving has never even come close to harming another.

I have more expierence you could imagine at law. I'm not sure what NC laws are, but cops CAN write a ticket without showing you speed... its called, yes, you got it "UNREASONABLE AND IMPRUDENT SPEED."

They called street racing an epidemic here at one time, but the only people ever truely hurt in a street race here was a group of 11 who got busted and their cars taken away. We raced at Twin Lakes for a long time every weekend and nobody ever got hurt, we do 100+mph fun runs to our race locations with 75+ cars and nobody got hurt or even a fender bender. I was watching the news yesterday and in the state of Indiana there are more children that die from abuse than street racing deaths in our state, which I don't remeber any in Charlotte caused by street racing. Bottom line is unless everyones little piece of paper says they know North Carolina law they can't tell me anything about what goes on here.

Street racing isn't dangerous? I really hope you or someone close dies because of some idiot going 95 million miles an hour street racing. Then we'll see what happens to your attitude about it. ONE person dying from it is ONE too many. Keep it on the track.

I also forgot to mention about the crooked cop thing, if you check the news we had a lot of cops get busted for cheating on skills test, so there is no telling how many cops we have patrolling the area that don't know anything because they cheated their way through the academy.

What madmods was trying to say is that cops don't need to naturally assume that something is wrong. If she was trying to get away from him I would understand, but they were having a conversation. Police are to quick to stereotype, because of their training they think they're professional profilers. During my service we had to profile enemies, but we didn't shoot first then check, we waited until they shown proof they were hostile, it didn't matter if we lost a couple of guys in the attack. Police don't follow the same rules as the military, we both have rules of engagment but it's easier for a cop to get away with breaking his because they mostly work alone or with a partner. If I shot an enemy without verification first I would be in prison right now, but cops get a reprimand and a week off of work for it. Also if she was in a parking lot getting assaulted or just getting some the officer would have full right to say something until that happened he should have just kept to himself.

Where do you learn about what cops do? Of course they profile. It's how they identify crime. Cops, like most people, have an intuition of if something is wrong. Can you sense if someone is scared by you? Yes, you can. If someone is showing fear its quite easily a sign they are doing something wrong. Cops don't shoot first, ask questions later. From what I hear from friends in Iraq it is quite opposite in the Military. Police follow many simliar rules to the military. The rules of engaugement are much higher for a police officer. If a person shows hostility there is a certain level of force that can be escalated by that officer. Non-deadly force is used in that situtation. The officer can only use deadly force if there is an immediate threat of death.

Cops go to jail too. Look at many of the people who have. Powell? (Rodney King's assaulter) He is/was in prison. There are many cases. Do your research before speaking.
