we just read a thing on this in school too, I guess the fur trade is good with the seal's skins and furs, so they club them rather than shoot them because it leaves the furs in good condition (no bullet holes, etc etc.) the fisherman are SUPPOSED to be taught how to club them that one hit = a fast painless death but it doesn't really work out that way. plus it decreases the amount of seals eating their fish, so the fish economy thrives also.
It's not like they're just out clubbing seals for the hell of it. that's cruel. honestly I see this being not much different than slaughtering cattle or chickens, etc etc. Except nobody tends to complain as much about that ~Brian -------------------- 1999 Celica GT
