Fired teacher charged, turns himself in
By RITCHIE E. STARNES -- MARSHVILLE (May 5, 2005)

The Forest Hills High School teacher suspected of having sex with a student turned himself on Wednesday, charged with felonious sexual offense and taking indecent liberties with a student, according to Union County Sheriff Eddie Cathey.

Freddy Ossmann Jr., 26, was charged around noon and then released into the custody of his stepfather, Marshville Police Chief Mike Gaddy, without being jailed.
Ossmann was charged with having a sexual relationship with a 18-year-old student at the school. In North Carolina, it's a felony for a teacher to engage in sexual relations with a student who attends the same school.

Cathey said three girls also made a one-day trip to the beach during spring break where they met Ossmann. Ossmann and the girls consumed alcohol while at the beach, Cathey added.

"They were all drinking, but I don't know who purchased the alcohol," Cathey said.

Cathey said the sexual offense did not occur while the teens and the teacher were at the beach.

Ossmann, a first-year math teacher, girls' soccer assistant coach and a cheerleading coach was terminated on April 18 after school officials concluded that he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a female student, according to Luan Ingram, public information officer for Union County Public Schools.

The school's resource officer reported to Cathey that he had obtained information of the inappropriate relationship. Evidence included a photograph, taken by another female student from the school, of a shirtless Ossmann and the bikini-clad student lying on a bed, Cathey said. He launched an investigation on April 20 with detectives seizing the photograph the following day from school officials.

Cathey said the photograph had been circulated among students and teachers on campus prior to Ossmann's termination.

Ossmann, a non-licensed instructor, was hired July 29, 2004, as a part-time teacher at the school, Ingram said. He taught two classes per day and was paid hourly for his services.

This one is for easternpiro1, this is that teacher Brandi and Veronica were talking about, the SOB got off because his dad is a police chief, hell the only reason he had the job was his step-father. Anyway for the people outside the loop I hooked up with this girl about a month ago and she was messing around with this teacher. Well when they broke up the guy had a few cops follow us around and tell him what we did, he got mad and caused a scene at the school so she got mad and started running his mouth to her about me so she turned the pictures in.

I just dont get it.
In the USA the let people drive cars when they are 16. IMHO i think thats more dangerous then the fact that people can't drink alcohol until they are 21.

Here in my country:
16: You can drive Scooters etc etc.
17: Nothing
18: Everything, you can vote, drink and drive a car.

But now ontopic. Both are legal of age so i really dont see the problem. But then again i did not read the entire article only the looked at the ages.

In Brazil it's 13 to drink, sometimes the 21 thing is good, mainly because our country has some of the worst drivers in the world. It's a federal offence in NC for a teacher to sleep with a student, even his dad won't save him in the end, he just wont have to sit in jail until his court date like normal people would. America is based mostly on who you know and how much money you have, which his dad has both money (because he gets a cut from a cocaine smuggler) and power so the teacher gets special treament where if it was just someone with no connections they'll get hammered.
