3S-GE's range from 135HP-210HP depending on generation. From what I hear most of the internals are the same except for the pistons (N/A's run a higher compression ratio). The best way to know is to cross check the part numbers of the parts between the 3S-GTE and 3S-GE to see if they match. Aside from that, the 1st and 2nd gen 3S-GTE came with T-VIS while the 3rd gen 3S-GTE came without T-VIS. The 1st gen 3S-GE came with T-VIS while the 2nd and 3rd gen 3S-GE came with ACIS. The 4th gen 3S-GE came with VVT-i (Celica, MR2) or Dual VVT-i (Altezza). The head and block are the same between the 3S-GTE and the 3S-GE except for the 4th gen 3S-GE that came in the Altezza. To sum things up:
4th gen Celica (US, UK, JP) = 1st gen 3S-GE (135HP) (T-VIS) 5th gen Celica (UK, JP) = 2nd gen 3S-GE (160HP) (ACIS) 6th gen Celica (UK, JP) = 3rd gen 3S-GE (177HP) (ACIS) and 4th gen 3S-GE (200HP) (VVT-i) 2nd gen MR2 (UK, JP) = 2nd gen 3S-GE (160HP) (ACIS), 3rd gen 3S-GE (177HP) (ACIS), and 4th gen 3S-GE (200HP) (VVT-i) |
