So basically the 3SGE is gonna have NA pistons, rods, etc. and 3SGTE is gonna have FI (stronger) pistons, rods, etc?
If this is true...that mean its just as risky turboing a 3SGE as a 5SFE, since both have NA internals? -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE(erics1one @ May 6, 2005 - 12:39 PM) So basically the 3SGE is gonna have NA pistons, rods, etc. and 3SGTE is gonna have FI (stronger) pistons, rods, etc? If this is true...that mean its just as risky turboing a 3SGE as a 5SFE, since both have NA internals? Not necessarily. From what the MR2 guys have been saying, the 3S-GE shares most of the internals with the 3S-GTE except for the pistons and maybe some other stuff. I would imagine both the 3S-GE and the 5S-FE would be tricky to boost but I say it's possible. All depending on how it's tuned of course. Take a look at this: http://www.celicatech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=321 If you notice, he only changed the pistons and rods on the block. If the 3S-GE was really weak, I would imagine the owner upgrading more engine block parts. But the point that i'm trying to make with that link is that boosting a 3S-GE can be done. Anywho, the cool thing about having a 3S-GE is that whenever you feel the need to go boost, you can just swap parts with the 3S-GTE. ![]() |
