When I bought my car last week I noticed that there was a tear in the pipe thing (?) between the air filter and the engine. Right now the tear is being held together with some sort of duct/electrical tape and I feel like I should fix it right away. I don't really know how to explain it since I'm pretty much new to this whole car thing but here is a picture of what I'm talking about [it's not my actual car]:
![]() Basically I need to replace it, and I need to know what it is and around how much it costs. Thanks guys. This post has been edited by eyohannie: May 24, 2005 - 12:08 AM -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE(eyohannie @ May 26, 2005 - 7:08 PM) I have a question: CAI is not smog certified, but it is not illegal in the state of California? So you can have a CAI and it's street legal, but it's not smoggable? How is this possible? Argh... I'm just going to the dealership and getting it there if it's under $50. Another question: Sorry if it's off topic: BTW I hear I clicking noise most of the time I turn corners (1-3rd gears), is it my CV boot? it is not CARB legal to make your own Air intake for our celica. I dont believe there is any LEGAL cai for our celica's at. California law says its illegal to modify the intake in any way. So if you want a CAI you are running a risk. BUT most cops and smog station dont car. But keep your stock airbox just incase. How? I've never seen a difference besides engine and mounts, and those are minor. the engine in a GT is in an angle and leans back towards the engine bay, the throttle body is located in a different location compared to the ST engine. |
