I'm pissed that my st is so slow. Some girl in a civic ex was blocking both lanes and acting like an idiot in traffic, i was behind her and she wouldnt move as cars in front pulled away. i decided to go around her. then she decided to get back into the lane. I had a head start and floored it to try and get in front and back into my lane. my she just sped up and didnt let me in. i felt like such an idiot in a loud slow car. then later that night some guy in a old v6 accord did the same thing. i dont think my car has an edge in regular traffic just to pass others and maneuver. ill probably sell her sometime this year after i fix up the gt.

I have to say this again, because alot of people think the ST is slow. Well, of course it's not a GT and it's far from an SS-III, or GT-Four, but it's not slow (compared to regular other cars).
I was driving around one day and stopped to drive onto a sort of highway (one-lane only, but still.. Hey! I live in a small town in Norway, ok?) ![]() ![]() I have a stock 99 Celica (ST) 1.8 7A-FE (Euro spec). On this run I didn't even hit rev limit in fourth gear, and it was uphill. People have been saying in different posts that they can't get their cars above 115 mph because of rev-limit and speed-limit and whatnot.. I can't understand why, but I probably don't have that limit on my Euro spec. i still could have used my fourth gear all the way and gotten about 120 I guess, and then switched to fifth gear and continued.. My last car (94' Nissan Primera, yeah I know..) with it's 2.0 liter SR20De engine(swapped in a 96' engine though, not the stock 94') pushed 125 bhp and that wasn't quicker than my 1.8 liter 7A-FE with 116 bhp.. The difference in torque is probably the reason, along with the ability to get the horses down to the wheels, and to the ground. My Celica is slow compared to any race car, or performance car. But in daily traffic I can pass anyone I want. I raced this Audi stationwagon a while ago too, and he got smoked real bad. It was a 1.8 A4 with turbo. He had 4 people in the car and I had 2. The car should smoke me bad, but I guess he was a sucky driver. The Celica isn't ment to be a race car (the GT-Four is of course, but not the regular ST and GTs (USDM).. GT JDM on the other hand is rather quick with the 197 bhp 3S-GE engine. -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE(Illyont @ Jun 8, 2005 - 7:32 AM) Then he starts loosing ground and I continue up to 115 mph and he is way behind me.. And what makes you think your speedo is anything like accurate. If it's anything like mine, 115mph is probably 105 in real life. A ST is not a fast car. I'm sorry, but it's not. It's a very nice car, but not quick. QUOTE(rudeboy3d @ Jun 10, 2005 - 2:34 AM) Turbocharged AWD manual transmission is the effing shiznit. :-D. It is. I have seen the light, and the light is boost. -------------------- JDM ST205
