QUOTE(ghostdog @ Jun 11, 2005 - 11:11 AM)
*sigh* they are switching to intel chips because a) ibm couldn't keep up with demand for g5 chips and b) they weren't able to solve the chips cooling problems for use in laptops

I really think its a shame. I've been using macs since the beginning and switching to intel chips seems like sacriledge. I'm just glad I didn't go out and buy a new mac yet because all the current ones will be obsolete in 2 years

2 things
- ibm could have continued to be the supplier easily but apple would have to change the contract and OS to use ibm's cell processors (ya know the much faster ones now being used in ps3, xbox 360)

- i just hope apple's still in business in a year's time - like the guy said in the article they may have killed themselves by announcing the switch this early cuz people are gonna have that attitude and wait to buy another one til the new ones come out
