Spaceship hit comet, not comet hit Earth. Slight difference in relative sizes means a similar difference in energy released.
My point: just because you consider her beliefs "stupid sh!t" does not invalidate them. Consider the world-wide reaction over the Taliban destroying those ancient images of Buddha. And unlike that destruction, which was a matter of desecration but didn't affect Buddhists beyond an emotional standpoint, her arguement is that blowing a hole in a comet has fundamentally impaired her ability to practice her beliefs. Say, like nuking Mecca would impair Muslims' ability to fulfill the tenets of their beliefs, which include at least one pilgrimmage there in a lifetime. |
