Alright I was at the races over the weekend and got beat pretty bad by a 378rwhp 726 rwtq (I believe that is what he said he dyno'd at CP earlier that night) diesel Chevy, go figure, I also ran a Cobalt SS, I got 1st and 2nd gear by third he caught up and by 4th he blew past me like he was spraying and beat me by 2 car lengths, the next race was against a Cherokee 4.0 Litre V6, no contest I won by almost 10 lengths (sad thing was he beat every Accord out there first).
Last weekend I ran a lightly modded MX-6 V6 and matched him (35mph roll, if it was from a stop I know I would have won), the second run was against a built D16 (I don't know Hondas very well but it said VTEC on the valve cover) 4 door that got me by a half length the first time, I won the second run with him (it was close but that's what everyone was saying, the last run was a 25mph roll against a well modded LS Civic coupe (everyone said he was putting out 170 to the wheels) he got me by a good car length when I hit fifth. The road we ran on was every bit of a quarter mile so it was a fair run. The Cobalt was a 3 run race because he kept missing second and I don't like to claim wins on BS like missed shifts. I did get to cruise with a 525 rwhp 350Z twin turbo that will be in Import Mag soon, he just finished shooting. I'm really close to tearing my head apart to find out my specs because a lot of people on here have the 5SFE and complain because they can't beat a D16 with a couple of bolt ons, I ran with one with a built head, intake, full exhaust, and was lightend to 2400 lbs. so that will be my project when I get a beater (hopefully this winter). My next races are against a Suzuki Reno (when he gets his bolt ons), then an Eclipse GS-T with a Big 16G upgrade (after I get my 75 shot). Cams, intake, and exhaust so far, but that is what the previous owner told me was done I couldn't tell you the profile of the cams without taking them out and measuring. I've learned that it's not really that difficult or expensive to get 130-140whp out of the 5SFE going N/A, it's when you try to get 160-200whp where the money really comes in but by then you're putting enough to the ground to run with some pretty quick cars. The only thing i'm going for in the 5SFE as far as mods is a 75 shot of nitrous to put me into SRT-4 range, I doubt my tranny will hold up though since it's stock and has been thrashed. BTW here is a pic of the D16 I ran the only thing that looked stock up close was the intake. He decided to show off after the race since he got me by a half, no BS that's what he did and you see where showing off gets you, lol.

QUOTE(darksecret @ Jul 14, 2005 - 3:06 PM) Cams, intake, and exhaust so far, but that is what the previous owner told me was done I couldn't tell you the profile of the cams without taking them out and measuring. Pretty easy to get into the 130-140 whp range!? Tell that to Jim Snodgrass... lol http://www.jimsnodgrass.com/dyno.htm That's the misconception with Toyota tuners. They think it's easy to make a lot of n/a horsepower, at least enough to compete against other import 4 bangers (namely Hondas). In all seriousness, in my buisness, I've worked on many many fast n/a Hondas... while never really ever worked on a decently quick n/a toyota (short of my own project cars and the occasional 7th gen GTS). Sometimes even if you're willing to throw down a lot of money, the basic engine design simply limits the engines ability to produce power. In the 5SFE's case, I don't blame the head as much as I would blame the poor rod/stroke ratio. I highly doubt a 5SFE can ever touch 160+ whp without a TOTAL makeover and mechanical changes to the rods, pistons, and the stroke value... and then throw on a headswap, and custom parts, you're looking at more than the price of a fast brand new car. Anyway... shouldn't you be racing less and concentrating your efforts on your Getrag RWD conversion? I thought you were out to prove all of the doubters wrong... And to add... our shop's truck (2001 Ford Superduty 7.3 turbo diesel) with Banks turbo upgrades (chip, exhaust, few other nic knacks), runs consistant mid 14 second passes with street tires. 700+ ft lbs of torque off idle is nothing to laugh at... ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by Kwanza26: Jul 14, 2005 - 1:25 PM -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl...
