Ok, after searching and not coming up with anything clear cut:
What are the factory soundsystem setups, I.E. head unit combinations, speaker setups, amps??, speaker sizes, ect. I'm mainly trying to figure out what exactly I have in my 99 GT so I can rip them out and throw in better things. I plan to stick with the stock size and throw a sub in the back (probably a single 12, not sure yet). I have what looks to be component speakers in the front doors, but I haven't taken a close look at the rear side speakers yet. Can I get some guidance please?? Usually crutchfield is pretty good about showing what's in there, but it blew chunks this time. -------------------- |

To be completely honest in all my speaker setups, I think Alpine Type R sounds better than Infinity Kappa components. Just my opinion.
QUOTE I think I have the following: 1" Tweeter in door behind mirror 6 3/4" Woofer in door 6 3/4" Woofer in rear side panels. All of that is correct except for the fronts. If you have power windows/locks....The hole is actually an 8" hole. You can get adapters for 6 3/4 speakers on ebay however, or just look in the how tos for making your own custom bracket. QUOTE And I assume that the same sizes fit fine with the aftermarket stuff (plan on going components in the front doors, coaxials in the side panels, and a 12" sub in the back). Yep. You will need 6 1/2" or 6 3/4 in the back. Dont count on the speaker holes lining up, you will probably just need to drill a new hole into the stock mounting brackets, which is pretty easy. In the front like I said the hole is 8", which means as long as your speaker isnt too deep for the window to come down, 8" should be a direct fit. If you want to go smaller, you will need a bracket of some sort. |
