im trying to do a swap and need a fwd tranny. what tran would you guys recommend? right now it is only the front clip do i need the rear to make the swap work? the person told me i need the belts etc and the fwd because the 3gste is awd is that true that i need to get a fwd.

The simplest tranny to use is the Celica GT tranny. It bolts right up, you need a GT tranny clutch kit but a 3SGTE pressure plate.

The stronger tranny is the E153 which can be found in the Camry (Solara) V6 5-speed, along with the MR2 Turbo. The one from the MR2 Turbo needs gear selector parts from the Camry since the MR2 has the parts on the opposite side. There's more info on that here if you search.

With the E153 you use the Celica GT4 mounts, and a Celica GT4 (alltrac) clutch kit.
