anyone have any first hand experience with them or maybe know anything about the quality of their products? mainly manifolds and downpipes? particularly downpipe?

Try searching -- there's a giant thread on a guy trying to sell 5SFE headers for fifth- and sixth-gens. The last few pages show what the problems are.
