Well I finally got myself a copy of the beta 1 version of Microsoft Windows Vista. I'm using it right now. Seems somewhat like XP, looks quite nice aesthetically, lots of bugs though (it's a beta). The DVD that the OS comes on is 2.5 gigs, mostly because of driver support. There are tons of drivers, and vista prides itself in this. Windows (boxes) open and close weird, it looks like they zoom in and out, sort of bothers me, (i need to find a way to disable that...) The files are arranged in a very different way, and the file browsing system is also very different (still ntfs); It looks pretty strait forward, just takes some time to get used to i suppose. I'd say that windows xp and 2000 are wayyyy more similar than xp is to vista. It really makes me think of what you would get if mac and Linux teamed up to create an OS. There is a new version of Internet explore too.

It wont, antivirus software’s are written to go deep into the system to help check things before they are executed. It doesnt have the right files for it to enable auto protect. Just do frequent scans and be careful. I highly recommend doing what I do if your gona beta this... get two hard drives a removable hard drive bay and have XP on one and Vista on the other so when vista doesn’t do what you want you can go back to something "reliable".
