hey all i just got a second 7afe intake manifold so that i can port and polish and fabricate a spacer for the surge tank. for those of u who have seen the inside of the IM. i plann on milling down all of those ribbs on the top piece to about 1/3 of it's original hight. then filling in the rest of the space with JBweld. (to add more strangth to the metal since i took out most of the rib structure, and to make it smooth.) then sanding the whole thing smooth. on the lower part though i have som questions.. there are two huge blocks that from what i can tell, do nothing for the structur of the piece, and it takes up space inside the tank. (i'll post pics if i can). i plan on milling that out aswell. to finnish out the smooth form on the inside. (would this be bad thing?) i am also going to make a spacer for the tank useing the gasket as a pattern. i am going to make it out of hardboard or MDF and permiate/cover the piece w/ JB weld. (to keep the part from falling apart, and to give it heat resistance, and to make sure that it give a tight seel. the questions that i have are... whould these modifications (significantly) effect the way that the vacume tubes off of the IM work? would it should i get any negative effects from dooing this? thanx in advance for any info .... i have done a search on the forums but found nothing on work of this sort on the 7afe IM... thank you.. -------------------- |
