i registered here looking for some answers and advice for my 95' Calica ST. for those who recognize my name it is because i also own a 86' AE86 (corolla GT-S) and i have been a long term member of club4ag.
as my first post i'd like to ask why it seems so hard to do the 7A-GE hybrid set up. realy all you would need is a 4A-GE head, a Porsche 924/944 timming belt, head gasket kit, and a 4A-GE MAP ECU, although i hear you could use the 7A-FE ECU, you just would be able to rev to 7.5K. i also thought about a cheep motor swap. as i was reading the engine swap guide, i read the 3S-GE is a good N/A motor. would that drop right in? what things are to remember when trying to drop this motor in? i would like to stay N/A so 3S-GTE isn't realy for me... yet. |

thnaks for the worm welcom by answering my questions. i would do a GZE swap i like the displacement factor with the 3S-GE (2.0L). i would like at least stay at or above 1.8L. i'll leave the 1.6L's in my AE86. i'm currently dropping a 20V silver top in it right now. i have the old 16V blue top 4A-GE from when i pulled it out of my GT-S corolla and kept it cause i knw i would be using it some how. so, i would like to put that head on my 7A-FE block in the celica and give it more pep. i think i'm gona do it... i'll keep you guys updated on this new project i'm getting my self in.
by the way. i need to set the timing on my celica. i think its way off. and the tach needle kinda wobbles at idle. any remedies for this? i already reset my ECU, so what the stock timing degree supose to be set at. or, isn't there a advanced setting for more torque or something like that? |
