a lot of people here do a lot of engine mods, exterior mods and even swaps... so, to all those out there who have engine work or exterior mods or engine swaps, did you tell your insurance company?
if you did tell, did you have to go on a special policy (ie hot rodders insurance for swapped engines, or increased premiums for exterior/engine work?) or have any of you been in an accident involving insurance, where you didn't tell them about your mods? did they pay for the claim? or were you black listed after? Back when I was still on my old insurence with my parents, when the motor blew up they did not really say anything about it just cut the check and called it good, granted the car was mostly stock at the time (just a few things, lowered and intake allong with sterio stuff.)
back when I got rear ended in my civic (it was much more modded then my celica was/is) they did not seem to care, nor did the insurence company of they guy who hit me, I maid a list of the things that were added and basicly exspected them to cover it all as they did without issue. I do however have the feeling that my current provider would not be too thirlled about it, they seem to just want my money as they have rongfully upped my 6-month price a few times (I'm fighting there bs) -------------------- |
