I don't understand how you get better mileage if you drive at highway speeds, because when I drive on the highway I'm at ~3500-4000 RPM in 5th. When I'm driving local streets I'm usually around ~2000-3000 RPM and I'm not working the engine as hard, but I'm getting lower gas mileage?

QUOTE(eyohannie @ Oct 20, 2005 - 12:10 AM) I don't understand how you get better mileage if you drive at highway speeds, because when I drive on the highway I'm at ~3500-4000 RPM in 5th. Starting and Stopping in the city causes your car to become inefficient. Thats why hybrids shut their engines off at stop lights and start up when you take your foot off the brake. When your on the highway getting good gas mileage...your not starting or stopping, just pure going forward engine use. |

Ahhh... All makes sense now, thanks.
Anyways 22-23 mpg is good enough for me, although I would like be like you ST guys and get crazy 32 mpg. -------------------- |
