Even though Anti-Lock Braking Systems are handy, I find that I prefer to drive cars without. Neither of my Celicas had ABS, nor my Mustang or truck. My Prelude did but I never drove the car hard enough to use it. If you know what you're doing without ABS then you're perfectly fine without, and can stop just as fast as a car with ABS. Also to relate it to a power steering thread I was reading earlier, ABS is another one of those things that a lot of purebread racing cars don't have.
And SSJChar, I don't know where you learned how to drive a car with ABS, but you're going to rearend someone someday. When ABS works, yes it means that the brakes are at the point of locking up but you just keep pushing the brake the same amount that you are. The whole reason the ABS system is there is to keep the wheels from locking up, the driver doesn't have to do anything but hold the brake pedal down. If you lighten up on the brakes when the ABS starts to work you'll lose stopping power. Your wheels will never lock up on an ABS system and if they do, you might want to be calling your mechanic. -------------------- 1999 Celica GT
