i just baught new alpine speaker for my car but having a hard time installing it... the front door stock speakers are 6 3/4 but the 6 1/2 works but they dont fit onto the speaker holder.......what do i do

if you dont mind wrecking the stock speakers you can do what i did. take the speaker out and cut the four metal pieces that hold the speaker to the metal surrounding. if you do this you will wind up with just the metal ring that surrounds the speaker. once i had just the ring i drilled holes in it to mount the new speakers with and just put it back in. i havent had any problems with it yet the only downside is you wont be able to put the original ones back in if you have to. if you want more details let me know
