I was just curious and I know it may be a stupid question but I think about this everytime I see the new Toyota's engine bays. I notice that most old Toyota cars(FWD) like the Celica have the exhaust side toward the front of the car and the intake side in the back. Most new Toyotas have the intake side in the front and exhaust in the back. Like the 1ZZ and 2ZZ, for example. The only new one off the top of my head that has the exhaust in the front is the 2AZ on the tC and Camry. I'm just curious about this. Does it make a difference? What's better/worse? Why?

I find it hard to locate the throttle cable on those new cars, or is it perhaps that everything is so new that Im blinded by all the shiny parts?
