Today I was working at radioshack, just finised my paper work and went on the sales floor to help some of my employees' when an older lady comes in, barely walking thru the door on her own. So I rush over and get the door for her and I ask "How can I help you today" she asks "Do you have this particular battery" and due to the hurricane we had recently we were out of stock of the 12v alarm batteries so I told her "No ma'am, the closest radioshack is about 20 miles from here that has it in stock, but I will be more than happy to get it for you and have it hear by tomarrow" and then she just looks at me with this sad look and says slowly "No thank you, my life has been so bad im ready to just put my arms down and die" after I heard that I just didnt know what to say. Im usually the person who has a slick comment or remark for everything but I was totally speechless. All I could say when she was leaving was "I hope your day gets better." It really sucked hearing that, im still thinking about it almost 8 hours later.

A wile ago (summer 04') my mom went into the doctor because she keep gaining waight, and did not know why, that night wen I got back from work she was up waiting for me and she told be she had a tumor growing off one of her limph nodes, it was a very hard time, it started to grow very quickly and she had to be bumped up to emergancy sergery to have it removed, the really scary news was that when it was taken out, it waighted a grand total of 30 lbs, (insanely huge for a tumor) the pics from the sergery are so sick its like a 30 lb bubble. but it was followed by good news after it was tested and came back negative for cancer, and she was back on her feet after the summer was over.

QUOTE(creis @ Nov 22, 2005 - 11:21 AM) A wile ago (summer 04') my mom went into the doctor because she keep gaining waight, and did not know why, that night wen I got back from work she was up waiting for me and she told be she had a tumor growing off one of her limph nodes, it was a very hard time, it started to grow very quickly and she had to be bumped up to emergancy sergery to have it removed, the really scary news was that when it was taken out, it waighted a grand total of 30 lbs, (insanely huge for a tumor) the pics from the sergery are so sick its like a 30 lb bubble. but it was followed by good news after it was tested and came back negative for cancer, and she was back on her feet after the summer was over. WOW 30 pounds, thats amazing!! Im glad she is okay. Reminded me of my moms health problem... My mom has had 2 brain surgeries on her pituitary gland because of a tumor/sist like substance growing on it. 23 years ago when she first got it they had no idea what it was so they only removed part of it. It grew back slowly & 3 years ago they removed it again along w/ her pituitary gland. Today she is only alive because she has medication that produces what her body needs for her to LIVE which is what her pituitary gland use to produce. The thing that sucks is earlier this year they discovered it has grown back AGAIN, bigger than ever in the same spot & is pushing on her retna so if they don't remove it soon she could go blind & my dad doesn't have a job right now so they have no insurance for the surgery & its like a $10k surgery. Luckily it seems to be staying the same size for now... so yeah...this thread is sad! -------------------- |
