whats up people?? i was wondering who out there has had a 3sgte swap and still uses their car for daily driving. im still looking into getting the swap into my st auto, but im a little concerned about a turbo'd car for daily use. I know the 3sgte is a dependable engine, but just how dependable is it when swapped?
any info and opinions would be greatly appreciated! -------------------- |

my 3sgte swapped celi is daily driven...i had a few issues that had to be worked out but nothing serious. Jay is right...every swap will have some bugs to be worked out. but once theyre all worked out its a great reliable car. just save some cash for AFTER the swap and call it ur bug removal fund. lol

QUOTE(easternpiro1 @ Nov 29, 2005 - 7:56 PM) [snapback]361241[/snapback] what sorts of bugs do you guys have to work out? and how can they be prevented? it could be a number of things. with mine doc tweak did a really good job on my car and i only had to worry about some minor stuff. not cheap, but still minor i think the biggest issues i had was that after a month of the swap completion that power wasnt going to the coil and injectors cuz that part of the circuit needed a relay and after that i had to get the engine shifted a lil' further away from the chassy cuz one of the pulleys was hitting the chassy during hard acceleration. stuff ALWAYS pops up after the swap, u cant really predict it....thats why its smart to have some cash just in case. just replace alot of things that would need replacing. plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing belt, drive belt, etc etc and maybe even some gaskets if the engine really needs 'em. oh and make sure u get a healthy engine! bboy -------------------- ..(formerly daily driven) 3S-GTE powered celica currently set @ 12psi.. |
