So I was at school today and I was looking around on craigslist where I stumbled upon a 1988 Alltrac. Bone stock except for gutted Downpipe and Cone Filter. 127K on the clock. The guy wants 3200 for it.

Here is the ad (Pictures are http://washington.facebook.com/album.php?a...dd&id=10716884)

FOR SALE:

A rare 1988 Celica Alltrac. This fantastic car has full time 4wd and a factory turbo setup, giving it roughly 190bhp! Let me tell ya, this car screams. I've owned her since last May, and in that time have put over $2100 in repairs into it.

If you arnt familier with the rally-bred Alltrac family, please check out http://www.alltrac.net/ and learn more. In a nut shell: in 1988 Toyota decided it wanted to start competing in the WRC (World Rally Championship), so using the already popular Celica line, it created a car for that purpose. The Alltrac (or GT Four as it's known overseas) was built for one reason: to race. This isnt some cheapass Eclipse with a glass transmission, nor some riced out pice of Sh*t Honda. The Alltrac is a honest-to-god sportscar. Factory full time 4wd, factory turbocharger and air-to-water intercooler, small wonder Toyota took the Alltrac to victory.

This car is in basically stock condition. It comes with a set of mounted snow tires, and of course mounted street tires, both with loads of tread left. The car runs strong, and pulls very hard. In the past year, i have done the following repairs and upgrades:

Front passenger wheel hub/berrings replaced ($400)
Both front axles ($345)
All Turbo mounting nuts ($5 a pop from Toyota... damnit)
Turbo gaskets ($60 from Toyota)
Airfilter to cone intake, not K&N, but does a nice job
New Turbo-IC tube, seals nicely
New Battery
New Alternator
New Distributor Cap ($20 from Toyota)
New Rotor ($11 from Toyota)
New Spark Wires ($67 from Toyota)
New Spark Plugs (Bosch Platinums)
Rear Differential fixed, re-gasketed and cleaned by a good shop ($300)
New Timing Belt ($150 installed)
New Valve Cover Gasket ($300 installed)
Downpipe Cat was gutted (helped so much! I recomend this to anybody)
Various fuses and little things, of course.
Regular oil changes with Fully Synthetic Castrol
Boost Gauge and mounting pod ($50)
Drivers Side Taillight fixture ($50)
New Brake Rotors all around & Pads in Rear 2 months ago!($600)

Small dent in the hood, 3" paint missing below gas door, drivers taillight is cracked but works! (NEW ONE ORDERED!) otherwise it looks clean! (see pictures)

I Brought this car into my life for over $3k, I've put over $2k into it. Get yourself a steal and buy a car you don't see everyday (Since only ~3000 were ever brough to the USA!) Car has 127k miles on the clock.

My problem is that, while I do have the money, should I just save for a ST185 clip and swap it and forget AWD? What would you do? What would Brian Boytano do?

Im looking at that, and I am also looking at a 5th Gen ST with a 185 3S swap. Its midnight blue pearl with 17" Motegi (ugh) MR-7's in gunmetal. He wants 4500. It is on Alltrac.net in the classifieds if anyone cares.
