I had to put my 94 Celica in the garage more then a year ago. The clutch burned out and the CV boots were bad. Since then Ive been buying tools and reading for the last year about engine swaps. Well I was out last weekend doing some prep work to get the old engine ready to be pulled. I noticed on the old engine that there was oil coming out of the valve cover. I got some pictures. I just want to know if anyone here could tell me what the problem is and how I can prevent this from happing on my new engine.
This first picture shows oil all over down by the Oil filter. The second picture shows the valve cover the oil isn't coming out that bad from here. The last picture shows the right side of the valve cover and you can see the layer of oil. Thanks for any help |

Valve cover. It's easy quicker fix. I changed mine a while back.
I just read what else you typed. You already seem to know it's your valve cover, now you just have to replace the gasket. Get the one with the rings around the plugs too. If that's gone bad, those rings will have gone bad too. Might want to check your gasket that seals the cam too, the one next to the timing belt.
