I need help on flushing and replacing my transmission fluid and filter. I was told that there are two bolts to loosen, one is drain bolt and one is refill(???) bolt. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if thats right or basically a how-to on this, or even any website that has this info. any opinions, help or advice is greatly appreciated!!! thanks in advance confused.gif frown.gif

That's for manual tranny only.....and if anyone is gonna change the manual tranny fluid, make sure you can undo the filler bolt before you drain it, or you'll be screwed with the oil out of the tranny and can't fill it back up.

For auto tranny, there's a drain bolt on the pan, at the bottom of the tranny. To get to the filter, you'll need to take the pan off as well. To refill it, you'd pour the oil down the dip stick tube. You could also stick a tube down the dip stick tube and suck the oil out too. But either way, you wouldn't get all the oil out. To do a really good flush n refill, a shop would use a machine to do that.

Take a look at the current issue of Popular Mechanics; there's a good how-to article on changing auto tranny fluid that I read it at someone's house. Probably the June issue.
