Hey Folks,
I just replaced my original clutch at 131K mi. I installed an Exedy Sportline clutch Kit. Resurfaced the Flywheel and used the same oil that the dealership uses. Now, when cold, its hard to shift into 1st, and when shifting into 3rd, all the time, it grinds a little. I did not grind before the clutch replacement, but the original clutch was slipping, so that 's why I replaced it. Any ideas about why its hard to shift into 1st and grinds into 3rd? Thanks, SKippy344 |

Your car isnt supposed to go into first easily at all unless you make a nearly full stop.....thats the work of synchros. So when you go to stop, only downshift to 2nd, then press in your clutch and gently let the gear slide into 1st. The gears only line up correctly when your doing like maybe 5 mph or under, due to the synchros that have to line up your gears correctly.
EDIT- Also, my gearbox grinds a little when shifting from 3rd to 4th....so i have a similar situation cuz my car has high mileage and probably needs some new synchros too.
