Tomorrow i am picking up my spec japan 16v 4A-GE

it only has 25,000 miles on it

im only paying $75 plus some dj equipment for it

ok heres the ?, He said it came out of either a 1985-1989 MR2 (MK1) or a 4th or 5th generation Celica,

Would this be better or worse for my 94 7a with 215,000 miles on it?

Would it be a little bit faster or slower?

Would this be pretty easy to swap into my st? like would it bolt up to my stock tranny and would the motor mounts work?

o ok j/w wandering because i was searching for 16 valve stuff on here and there was a post that said he has a 16 valve 4a and he said he had no problem keeping up with coomer which u know has a silvertop.

so if you had the chance to get a 4a for just about free because you can trade some stuff for it would you swap your 7a with your new 4a?

would it even be worth it?

It's not as simple as swapping the engines under the hood. That's merely the easy part. The hard part is the wiring... and collecting all of the missing pieces, which you're definately gonna have a bunch of.

As for thomas (toyotaspeed90), the guy who "beat" coomer... heheh... that guy likes to talk a bit of trash. He does know his car stuff... but when it comes to racing... eek. Also note... Coomer's silvertop at the time had a lot of issues with the wiring and VVT, so he wasn't running in peak condition. On a side note... he mentioned only running low 16's in his 4AGE Corolla... a time I matched with a 7AFE. Considering the corolla is lighter than the celica...

There are 2 MAJOR versions of the 16V 4AGE. The bigport, which makes about 115-120 hp and 110 ft lbs of torque (most likely the ONE)... or the slightly rarer smallport 4AGE (the one thomas has), which makes 130-140hp and 105-110 ft lbs of torque. Neither of these will hang with a silvertop 20V... both will beat the 7AFE, neither of them are neccesarily easy swaps because there is a significant bit of wiring that needs to be done.
