I hooked up my 1600 watt max amplifier to my 2 800 watt max Kicker subwoofers. After turning it up and letting it pound for about 10 minutes, a burning smell came from the subwoofers. I looked this problem up on the internet and it said that it could be burning off some of the glue from the factory or some dust on the subs. I know I did drill a hole in the box with the subs in it and there may still be some saw dust in it. Could that be it? I have no idea. Please Help!! THANKS ALOT

Does it still make sound?
Sounds kinda like you may have fried a voice coil... what amp are you using? If it's a cheap and nasty amp... then there's your reason. The amount of power fed to speakers or a sub is irrelevant, as long as the power is good, clean power. In my old car, I ran my splits with 220WRMS all day, they are rated for about 60WRMS. -------------------- www.tangcla.com - photography
