i got this for 20 bucks today, not sure whats its for and how to use it. can anyone tell me about this and how to hook it up. ita a MTX electronic crossover rt-x01a.

A crossover separates groups of frequencies and sends each group to the proper speaker that reproduces that frequency range the best, i.e. low frequencies to the sub(s), mid bass to the woofers and highs to the tweeters.
Obviously, you have to have these speakers in your setup to use this. Using a crossover will yield the best sound quality because you are sending ONLY the frequencies that that speaker is designed to handle. In other words, your sub isn't trying to reproduce 15000hz when it can't and your tweeter isn't trying to play 60hz sounds which it can't. A crossover can be connected before or after the amp but separating the signals first and then amplifying them will yield the best results. |
