I remember a big debate a while back about the Celica being a sports car, well it's considered a Japanese sports car by the Wikipedia. Either way it's opinion but IMO it is seeing as it's somewhat light, good maneuverability, good looks, and can have good performance.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() guys, c'mon please, this is getting really old trying to justify the celicas place amongst the rest of automotive history... if you are really that insecure about what you are driving then buy something else. call it a sports coupe, a sports car, a sport compact, an economy car, a hatchback/liftback/coupe, a ****box, an econobox, a saloon car, a rally car, a WHATEVER... it doesnt change the fact that its still only stock at 105-135 HP FWD car in the US pretty decent handling capabilities and was designed to get you from here to there and compete with the likes of the integra, (less Type-R and GSR), Civic (less the SI), the DSMs (less the GS-T, GSX, TSi), the sentra (less the SE-R), etc... they can all be mentioned in the same breath. its not a bad thing what-so-ever im not knocking anything, i loved my celica, and really miss having it (would rather have that any day of the week over my more powerful peppier Cobalt) it really just doesnt matter, you can make it into whatever suits you.
