vibration at 70+, it's a vibrator! Options

question for you guys. i've got a 94 celica gt, auto, w/o ABS. driving aroung the city, there are no noises except for an occasional knock from the drivers side. i did pull the driver's side wheel off and clamp holding the CV boot on was loose, so i tightened it using the Toyota clamp tool. granted i know i had lost a lot of grease already, so i don't drive it much, i drive my b/f's car.

my question is, could this vibration, which is speed sensitive be the driver's side CV? we are going to head out to the pick-n-pull today to grab some 5th gen mirrors, a new intake boot, and a driver's side axle as i did have to drive 1500 miles from boston to West Palm Beach with this problem. so it is probably pretty screwed up right now.

i've read the best way to get the axle out is to pull like a mofo, a pry-bar, tire-iron, etc. and i already have a DIY for putting it back in. but any other tips would be appreciated. also, are there any axles from other models that wold fit the same? like a camry, corolla, MR2? thanks in advance.

he has already alligned it, balanced and rotated the tires, checked for bends etc. we did that in boston, then drove down to West Palm Beach and the problem was not fixed. we got everything apart except for the shaft in the tranny. our 1/2" breaker bar split in half taking off the 30mm bolt on the spindle, but we ended up wusing a 5 foot pipe to break it lose. all our pry bars wouldn't get it lose, so he is heading to the store to get another one and try from both sides. i get to take his car tomorrow to go Venice! god i love turbos! either way, hopefully he will have that replaced and everything back assmbled by the time i get back. any advice would help.

on a side note, we also picked up a set of 5th gen mirrors and i'll install those tomorrow before i leave!
