Inlet air temps Options

Finally got round to fitting an inlet air temp sensor today. Bought a basic system from Oz which includes a probe and LCD monitor. Max / min alarms can be set with max / min recall.

Placement required a bit of work, but settled on just after the throttle. Involved removing the (inactive) cold start water injector and cutting off the nozzle. The housing was then drilled out to allow the probe to be pushed in - being held in place by an interference fit. A blob of silicone sealant around the base completed the job..





I have yet to decide where in the cabin to mount the monitor. With a short length of wire between the probe and display, I have to cut the wiring to insert a section to make life easier. Initial tests showed an average temp of between 35 - 40 deg C when the throttle is open and 45 deg C + when sitting in traffic. Interesting that as soon as you pull away and the pump is activated by the opening of the throttle, the temp drops almost instantly by at least 5 deg C. Still, despite typical warm ambient temps today, still have a bit of work to do to get those temps down

BTW, while everything was apart, took the opportunity to mount a 0.4mm nozzle for the ERL water injection system I'll soon be running
