Are there any underdrive pulleys available? I have heard that you can put an ASP underdrive pulley for a Corolla with a 7aFe engine on a ST Celica for 8hp gain. Will it fit on a celica? Are these hard to install if anyone has one of these?

Ha, I seriously doubt 10-15 horse. Maybe 7 max... corrected. Maybe. It's worth it I'd say. I definitly did feel it, and so did my honda buddy. It says it takes a while for your ECU to adjust, so it might get me 10 in a few days. I'm skeptical about that, don't expect super gains from this.
In old cars the accessories pulley (the one I replaced, and you would be replacing) came in two parts. In between was a rubber ring that absorbed the harmonic shocks from the engine pistons moving. It was long rumored that such a thing existed in cars today, and replacing it would destroy your engine in the long run. I have never heard of anyone having an underdrive pulley destroy their engine, and I can say and prove that the pulley for the 5sfe in the ST204 is one peice solid metal. I suspect the same for the 7afe. |
