I had the same problem with my 7A-FE (different engine i know) and i did 2 things that seemed to fix it.
1. i sucked auto trans fluid into my intake manifold with a vacuum line then let it sit 12 hours and then started the car, warmed it, and drove it hard up and down the street, racing the engine up and down through 1st gear several times. 2. drove 20 hours on the highway in one week either one of those could have resoftened the seals and allowed them to seal once more, im not sure which did it. try the trans fluid thing and then do some extended highway driving and see if that helps, its alot cheaper and easier than going through replacing the seals. additionally, i run 1/2 quart of trans fluid (added to my oil) through the engine for 50-100 miles before an oil change. the 1st time i did this was the last oil change and the oil came out a horrid varnish brown (still smelled like trans fluid). trans fluid in the oil is a pretty well known trick to quickly and easily clean out an engine. -------------------- |
