I have heard about this device thing for a long time but never read an article about it. I would really like to see a good pic of it so see what it was able to do that made an extra 50hp!

You need to remember, a GroupA/WRC car could develop somewhere in the region of 500-600bhp if it was allowed to breathe properly. To limit power, the FIA rule that all cars must breathe through a standard size restrictor (28mm I think). This effectively means all the cars have pretty much the same horsepower.
