I purchased a H1 xenon conversion kit back in January from a group buy. I FINANLLY got around to starting the conversion this evening, only to find the light bulbs are not "plug and play" The JDM projector H1 bulbs came with a large black housing that the H1 plugs into, and allows the clamp on the projector to hold the buld tightly in place. The H1 HID I received have no such housing to hold the bulb in place. I attempted to clamp the bulb down with he progectors pring clip, but It can not put enough force on the bulb to keep it tight. I am sure I can't be the first one to run into this situation. I was considering drilling out the eboxy filled black plasic H1 (halogen) housing that came with the JDMs and attempt to remove all the metal contacts, and some how make it work with the new Xenon bulb, but I though I would check here first.
Advice, sujjestions or experience appreciated. --mick BTW... just got my car back from the shop... fixed the dreaded oil pump and crank seal gasket problems and got a custom 2.25 exhaust installed from the Cat back to include new flex, a 22" Magnaflow Resonator and a Magnaflow street series muffler... was quite inpressed with the low note and it's lack of "Rice"... and no more messy oil drip to boot!! Took advise from the board on that one too... Thx |

that IS H1. Common on H1 and H7, there is a supporting base for the globe to fit.
Here's a tip... use the rubber grommet that came on the end of your HID globe, cut it to size and use that as the spacer. Or, use the cap of a Coke bottle... I've done enough HID installs to know. and it works. Probably wouldn't really recommend the Coke bottle thing... but use the rubber grommet. -------------------- www.tangcla.com - photography
