Slapping a turbo on a 5sfe (Auto) would for sure require a tourque converter. Anyone have any ideas? Also about the Burien kit some in here said the proper intercooler would come from I think it was an early model Supra was this correct? If you read this post and know what you are talking about please reply

A front mount MKIV Supra (2JZGTE) intercooler will work I think. I also think that the MKIII will work (one of the 7MGTE), you'l need to custom piping done for both though (I recommend an exhaust shop that does mandrel bends). Also, our cars come with a torque converter, so if yours doesn't have one well that sucks lol cuz something's wrong...but I'm guessing you mean aftermarket torque converter and yeah, if you run high boost and you shift with your automatic it would be a good idea to get an upgraded toqrue converter as well as a shift kit. Someone posted something about this and I saved the URL, but since then I have installed a new OS and lost all my favorites so if anyone has that link. It was like 800 bucks or something.

BUT, if you're only going to run 5-7psi like the kit says, don't worry about it.

My recommendation is to go out and buy a car that has an engine meant for a turbo. The 5SFE is not meant to put boost on, although it can be done and very efficiently at that...it wasn't meant to be boosted on. Do a 3sgte swap.

And for those fo you who have seen me everytime say "Do 5sfte if you are short on cash" exnay on that opinion. I no longer feel that you can safely boost this engine to a good horsepower without spending the same money you would on 3sgte. Then, you go and upgrade 3sgte internals and you are talking moogoo HP. Later.
