Ok this might be a real dumb question but i'm having major issues finding my oil filter, ive been down the the libary and the only celica manual i could find was for a 91, and it claimed the oil filter was in the center front of the car by the extractors, well mine isnt or at least if it is i cant see it. Ive got a 3rd gen 3S-GE so if anybody can tell me where it is id really appreciate it.

You need to remove the driver's side cover.
That is assuming that it is the same as the turbo motor. Otherwise it'll be on the front of the block. Note the silver round unit below. Gen I and II motors have the oil filter in that position - the Gen III motor in the photo has an oil cooler there instead.
