ever since my swap (5s to 5s) i have had a check engine light. it was only on sometimes before, but now it had been on for a solid 2 months now. now here is the problem... when i get it diagnosed, it says it is the cam positioning sensor. to my knowledge, and the knowledge of anyone else i have talked to, niether my old engine, nor the new engine have a cam positioning sensor. so my questions are if the car never had this part.. why the hell is the ecu looking for it, and how can i fix this problem?

QUOTE(TrdKing @ May 2, 2006 - 6:35 PM) what motor and ecu are you using. (what cars) newer 5sfe camrys have a cam positioning sensor Heres the thing. I am using a 94 5sfe engine that i converted from federal to cali emissions( my old motor was cali) so of course i used me old coil, ignitor, distributor, exaust manifold, ECU and everything esle needed for the swap. It came out of a parts car parted out by Dustin (batman722) and Manny(presure2) so i know it was from a celica. but even if it was from a camry, why would the ecu be looking for it? -------------------- ![]() The question is not how far.
