Well, as some of you know, I've been registered on this site for almost a year, and I've been looking to buy a Celica for about a year and a half. I've been looking on craigslist, watching autotrader, and frequenting eBay looking for the perfect Celica ever since I fell in love with them. So, I’m happy to finally announce that I’ve joined the ranks of all you Celica endowed. =] So here’s the specs:
1994 Celica GT 207,000 miles, black and a manual. Pretty much everything is stock. Decent interior, only some rips. Exterior is decent too, some pitting and scratches(needs a new paint job eventually), but not bad considering the miles. I’m the fourth owner. The first guy worked at Toyota, then the second and third owners were sisters. Here’s the only catch. It wasn’t running when I bought it. It had been sitting since mid-February and the girl a bought it from didn’t really need it anyway. She took the bus to work, and walked everywhere else. I bought it on Wednesday, and after about $30, and 7 or 8 hours of work, my dad and I got it running last night. Turned out to be a timing belt. I don’t think the thing had ever been replaced in 200K miles! I wish I had a picture to show you all how frayed it was. The thing slipped and the crank was nearly a two thirds the way out of alignment with the rotor. =] Anyway, here are some pictures of it I took today after I washed and waxed it. It really runs great! It be expected of a Toyota. I just decided take a poll and see what all you people would have been willing to pay for this car, then I’ll tell you what I got it for.(keep in mind it wasn't running when I actually bought it) ![]() ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

QUOTE(tin_foil @ May 2, 2006 - 11:00 AM) Well, I bought it for $700. I, personally, am very happy with it. Considering its pretty hard to find a 6th gen for under 2K no matter what the condition. I now have a decent condition and great running Celica for $700...I'm down with that. ![]() OMFG thats a nice price now tell me where 2 find one, lol Edit: nvm i just read that its not runnin when u bought it...lol This post has been edited by DriftMotion: May 2, 2006 - 7:28 PM |

IMO, if some one's scared of buying a not running car, they don't deserve to be moding something as beautiful as a 6th gen. celi in the first place. ![]() -------------------- ![]() |

Its not a matter of being "scared" its a matter of being smart with money, and not investing alot of money into a car thats not even running. now if i had the intentions of doing a swap, then this car would be perfect. -------------------- ![]() I am now a part of the ihavemorethen16gc club! |

I know. And I didn't mean to insult anyone. It's just that, like I said in another post, at the moment I've got 4 cars that weren't running when I bought them, and I've bought half a dozen other in the last couple years that weren't either. And I've gotten every one running, normally for not more than a couple hundred bucks at most. Just look around and buy from people that their car isn't running, and they don't know a thing about it, and don't want to bother with it. So all I was saying is that I'm surprised when I talk to people who avoid dead cars like the plage. As long as a vehicle isn't seized up, or have a warped head, most of the time its just something small that killed it. Several of the cars I've bought have just needed a timing belt, or new fuel pump, or starter. Get this, my dad bought a beautiful 89 Prelude or $900. All it needed was a spark plug. ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() |
