I was trying to put my underdrive pulley on and I finally gave up cause I could not get the stock pulley off. After I put everything back together, I started her up and I heard this unnatural clicking/knocking noise coming from the drivebelts side of the engine. At first I thought it might have been the alternator belt cause it was frayed a bit on the side of it. So, I went to by friendly neighborhood Pep Boys to pick up a new belt. The funny thing about it is that I obviously asked for an alternator belt for a 97 Celica ST and they said that they didn't have it listed in their book. So then I asked for a belt for the 7AFE engine for the 91-98 corrolla. They had that,so I bought it. I put it in,started it up and the noise was still there. I finally broke down and took it to a shop and sure enough, it was the underdrive crank pulley that I needed. Apparantly I warped the stock one trying to get it off. But the whole possitive thing about this situation is that I'm getting my car fixed and when I get it back, hopefully it will be a little faster with the new underdrive pulley that they will put on for me.

I found out the complete problem with what I broke. I got my car back from Pep Boys and the car ran horrible. My CAI was loud as hell and my engine was shaking alot. I went back to Pep Boys and they said that the aftermarket pulley had to be balanced onto engine. They then suggested that I take it to the dealer to have them look at it. So, I drove it to the dealer that was like 15min away and I dropped it off after they closed. I then called them in the morning and they said that when the pulley was taken off, the pulley puller that Pep Boys used ripped the shield that's behind the pulley. What this did is it literally ripped my timing belt in half(width wise). So, they straightened the shield to an arrow and changed the timing belt. I had to pay $311 for the job and for the installation of the new pulley. What I'm doing is going after Pep Boys for their neglegence(might be spelled wrong) for breaking my timing belt. I'm still waiting for the claim that they put in for the damages to my car. This was just a bad week for me cause I need my car for work. I'm not just talking about driving to work, I'm talking about using my car to deliver for Domino's. So, I ended up losing money cause of all the days taken off and spending lots of money in the process. What I learned is that my Toyota dealership is a great place to go for service and that Pep Boys are just clueless. I'm just glad to get my car back with a new timing belt and my new Underdrive pulley on.
