Hey everyone,
Noob question here, so bear with me, since I couldn't find anything through searching. Just wondering what kind of fuel you guys put into your celicas. I realize that anyone with a swapped or Turbo'ed 6G obviously uses Premium, but what about those of you running 5SFE or 7AFE engines? I would think using a higher octane fuel would increase performance a bit, but does it? Or is it dangerous for the engine? Any more importantly, is it even worth it with the rising cost of gas... Thanks! |

QUOTE(FAQdaWorld @ May 21, 2006 - 5:14 PM) If you're not experiencing knock then you dont need higher grade fuel. Any performance gain you experience is a placebo, you're getting the same mileage whether you realize it or not; the time ur higher octane fuel performed better your speed was probably not as high as it was with the lower octane fuel (IE, instetad of traveling at your car's most efficient speed (somewhere in the vicinity of 45 - 50 mph), you were traveling at 70 (with low octane). Detonation is not an issue on the 7afe or 5sfe stock, so premium fuel is not required, your compression ratio is only 9.5:1, so seriously stop wasting money on premium guys, you dont need it whether you like to think you do or not.... -FAQ yes, i travel at 70-80-90 mph on a regular basis on my way to work...i have a lead foot...which is why the higher octane works better for me...and for those who live where u can drive like a bat outta hell for the most part... lol ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by easternpiro1: May 23, 2006 - 8:48 PM -------------------- |
